I know I can connect the PS2 HDD to my computer to install games, but when back in the PS2, I can begin without a hard drive (HD Loader HD Advance), as my PS2 lens rotates. .. I removed Cleaning ... made everything nice and clean, and nothing goes ........ or is my PS2 is a bookend?

The PS2 is completely loaded the HD Loader from a disc or you need a PS1 trigger disc If you have a memory card ready.
However, if no disc is inserted into the PS2, you're out of luck and need a new laser
There is no way to insert a disc, PS2 is really just a clipboard with style.
